Who we are
Foundation for the Marooned was established in Nigeria in 2007 and became a U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity in 2016. We're dedicated to the welfare of the child — providing shelter for children living on the street, feeding and clothing families in need, and offering education so a whole community can move forward together.
Our passion started with a simple call: to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ by meeting real, physical need first. Today we reach out to poor and rural communities, unskilled families, and the poorest of the poor — women and children — with safe, accessible education, relief supplies, and a home for those who have nowhere else to go.
In line with our vision to give every child an equal opportunity, we feed, clothe, and shelter children who need it most, while offering education, vocational training, and mentoring throughout their time with us. We help with school supplies, tuition, and fees — and we walk alongside every child until they're ready to stand on their own.
Meet our directors
Ema
Ema started Foundation for the Marooned in 2007, as a first-year college student in Nigeria. She's a missionary of the gospel of Jesus Christ, called to serve children and women who have nowhere else to turn — and she still works every day to see that calling through. She lives with her daughter in Indiana.
Ron Gress
Ron served in the U.S. Air Force before spending decades in retail management and as an IBM Client Executive, later becoming a career mentor at Butler University. He's passionate about reaching out to those in need and has been committed to FOMA's vision from the start. He lives with his wife and family in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Dr. Kellan Kershner
Dr. Kershner has spent his career in the seed industry and is passionate about helping children grow into kind, capable, Christ-like adults. His years living and working across Honduras, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Haiti, France, and Germany shape how he thinks about cross-cultural work. He lives in Indianapolis with his wife, cat, and dog.
Nsikak Inyang
Nsikak joined FOMA's board in 2017 and now serves as Secretary. She holds a degree in Informatics from Indiana University and has spent over 15 years in healthcare, currently as a Program Analyst with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. She lives in Indianapolis with her husband and three children.
Lyn Wuethrich
Lyn has been a Realtor for 25 years, and before that was a preschool teacher and administrator. She met Ema in 2017 at Indianapolis Apostolic Christian Church and has walked alongside her ministry to the children of Nigeria ever since. She and her husband Ken have three children and eight grandchildren.
